Finding Talent to Grow your Organization using Social Media

Business growth is the ultimate goal of any business owner. To grow your organization, you need to rely upon the skill sets of your employees. Therefore, making strong hiring decisions is a core skill every business owner should possess.

To begin, you must develop candidate sourcing techniques which will deliver ongoing, quality resumes for your business. A tip- look for new talent, even when you don’t think your business needs it. Many of the most talented job candidates are passively looking for opportunities. What does this mean? These candidates are typically not those you will find actively seeking work through job postings, classified ads or through a resume search online. To find the top candidates, you must learn to leverage alternative sourcing techniques.

One of the most effective and affordable sourcing options available to business owners today is the Internet. While you can leverage online platforms to provide your business with a constant stream of job seekers, you can also utilize the tool to develop online relationships with potential job candidates. Begin by establishing social networking pages for your business; Twitter, Facebook, Plaxo and Linkedin should all be established.

LinkedIn seems to be the best networking tool among all this. And it is getting really hot in the recruiting market. I personally have received numerous recruiter calls through Linkedin.

Once you build these social networking pages, you can begin to build your list of friends and contacts. Start by uploading your email contact list. Then, you can actively search using keywords for individuals within your same field or niche.

Beyond online networking platforms, you can also locate talent through free classified ad postings, actively searching for resumes posted by job seekers and through traditional advertisements posted in the local newspapers.

Working proactively to locate resumes will enable your organization to locate, build and cultivate talent which you can draw upon when you need to, not only when it’s available.
